PROBLEM

Our client, the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), needed to provide recent Afghan immigrants with accurate, up-to-date information on a variety of topics. We needed to communicate this new information clearly using plain language that could be easily translated into Dari and Pashto, the two official Afghan languages.

PROCESS

We worked with lawyers, Afghan experts, and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) to research and write one-pagers, factsheets, and white-paper-length resources for our audience.

• Wrote and conducted research for multiple documents

• Suggested alternate language to the client and managed all edits

• Organized meetings with SMEs to ensure our content was correct

• Conducted independent research to verify information​

• Balanced competing perspectives and goals to create products that were helpful without providing direct legal advice that we were not authorized to give
